About Quicksand Font

Quicksand belongs to the sans-serif family of fonts that came from the creative mind of graphic designer Andrew Paglinawan. Thomas Jockin improved it in collaboration with Paglinawan in 2016. It went through another redesign in 2019 by Mirko Velimirovic. It was Velimirovic who transformed the typeface family into a variable font.

Paglinawan kept geometric forms as the core base of the letters. All later modifications stayed true to that foundation. The font was created in an effort to make a contemporary sans-serif typeface for onscreen use while maintaining the same reading experience as traditional serif fonts. It has also been optimized for setting large swathes of body text at smaller sizes on screens.

The font highlights the subtler aspects of type design, which is often overlooked in the mainstream typography world. It aims to create an impressionistic lettering style with clean lines and proportions with hints of Art Deco influences.

There are many different types of fonts that you can find on the Internet today, but only a handful are unique and interesting to talk about. Quicksand belongs to that small pool of fonts. This typeface has been optimized for use in user interfaces and other screen-based design environments.

The font has a clean and simple look that makes it easy to read on various types of screens, from desktop monitors to mobile devices. It's been optimized for good screen rendering, with no pixelation at all sizes. Like all Google fonts, you will find it in every variation between the Light 300 and Bold 700.

If you're looking for a font that is warm and friendly, then Quicksand might be the one. Rounded letterforms create a soft appearance that draws the reader's eyes there first. As a result, the font is perfect for large texts and headings, such as restaurant menus and signage.

It can also be used in small portions of body copy. If you are looking for an elegant yet approachable feel on your website or blog post with some personality, this is the font you should use! This typeface is unique in the way that the hint of curvature creates a distinctive look. The shape of the letters gives a sense of unity, while the thickness of the lines enables them to stand out from one another.

Because of being an open-source font, this typeface is freely available on GitHub and is licensed under the SIL Open Font License. It's also available for free download from the Google Fonts library.
